Advice which sewing machine to buy?
My parents are buying me a sewing machine for my birthday (since my mom doesnt like me using hers 
) but theres so many brands and types to choose from and the prices ranges from inexpensive to crazy expensive. I really like the mechanics for “Singers quick fix mend machine” (or Singers “Pixie” machine) because I want something easy and simple to use but after looking at reviews Im glad I didnt waste my time since apparently theyre horrible products. I’d like to use it to do small projects since I dont sew too often, I would really just be hemming and making my own t-shirts/blouses. But I do want something that will last me many years to come, something that wont take up so much space and thats beginner friendly (I dont need 1000 different stitches LOL with voice activation or something). Does anyone have any recommendations of products I should look into?
A small but mighty brand and model is the Singer 1507. It is around $100 and has a straight, zig-zag, blind-hem and scallop stitch along with a buttonhole feature.
The 1507 is about as basic as you can get and still have a machine that is strong enough to stitch through several layers of denim (make sure to use the right size needle) and gentle enough to stitch thinner fabrics (machine has a pressure adjustment for the presser foot).
This machine is not too large and not too heavy. It comes with a cover.
I have owned and used this machine for a little over two years and it is a super machine.
With any new to you machine, open the instruction machine and as you read, apply each step of every feature. This will not take very long and you will soon have mastered the operation of the machine.
