Singer Sewing Machine Oil

singer sewing machine oil
how do I oil a vintage singer 306W sewing machine?

newly acquired, motor spins, but no action. Any suggestions?

Using sewing machine oil ONLY, look closely at the machine and you will see there are small round holes where the oil goes. Pull back the plate that covers the bobbin/hook area and slowly turn the handwheel as you observe the places where metal moves against metal…oil these areas lightly. Put a drop of oil into the hook. Turn the machine over and lightly oil the points on either end of the shafts. Turn the machine back upright now and look at the interior of the handwheel to see the silver, knurled knob in the center. Check to make sure that it is reasonably tight. Check the motor belt for cracks or loose threads which indicate that it is old and needs to be replaced.
Your machine is very old and heavy and just doesn’t do a lot of things, but it is still a very good machine which will last you a long time if properly maintained.
