Threading an old sewing machine?
My grandfather gave me and old Dressmaker 205 sewing machine. I have the manual but the instructions arn’t very clear on how I’m supposed to thread the needle. Plus there is a bobbin under the machine and it’s all very confusing for me. Any help would be great.
I would like to clarify, do you have a drop in bobbin, or a bobbin case, a little gizmo that comes out?
I’m guessing the latter, as they are more confusing. If so, hold the bobbin in your left hand. Hold the bobbin in your right hand with the thread going over the bobbin, not under. Pull thread up through the first notch, an down through second larger, center notch.
Replace bobbin case carefully, close the door, with the thread tail coming up through between the door.
Then move the fly wheel by hand so the top thread catches the bottom thread.
