Reliable Sewing Machines
i need a reliable cheap sewing machine?
there is a girl i really super duper like as a friend and more,she like to sew A LOT but doesnt have a machine what can i get her
You have a couple of options: the first is to buy a new machine, and for that I’d go with the Brother. I have two of them, and they are reliable. The tension on mine holds well and the stitch is sturdy. The cheapest I’ve seen was the Brother 2000 series for about $120 at WalMart, and I even saw one for $60 on a Big Lots close-out. The 6000 series is up around $170.
The other choice is to go for an older machine. Any metal Singer is good, most especially the 300 and 400 series in my book. The old Kenmores are wonderful and usually a little less expensive than the Singers which have gotten a bit of collectors’ mania. I’d take my friend with me when looking at the older machines: if she sews she’ll have a feel for a good machine. Sources for older machines include craigslist, thrift shops (need to be lucky), your local classified ads and even garage sales.
