Quilting Sewing Machine Reviews

Can someone help me find good sewing machine reviews?

I am planning to make a major investment in a new sewing machine. I will be sewing a variety of things from garment construction to quilting. I can’t spend thousands of dollars but would like the best for my money. I’ve looked online but the reviews I’ve been able to find aren’t really satisfactory. Can anyone help? Your own experience with different machines will be much appreciated.

Stick with the “big” names – Bernina, Husqvarna Viking, Pfaff, Janome, Baby Lock. You’ll be happy with any of these brands. Buy from a dealer near you. The specific model will depend on what additional things you need – embroidery, etc. Electronic (computerized) models are more expensive, but can do automatic buttonholes and specialty stitches. Mechanical models are less expensive and easier to maintain. I have a Pfaff (electronic) and a Janome (mechanical), and am very happy with both. I use the Pfaff for piecing my quilts, and the Janome for quilting them (on a frame). My mom has a Brother that she really likes. I’ve also used Baby Lock and Bernina and was impressed with their ease of use. The dealer is the biggest consideration because you’ll want to be able to take the machine in for servicing without having to ship it off for several weeks.
