Kenmore Sewing Maching
Husqvarna Viking Emerald 118 Sewing Maching vs. Kenmore 19110 Sewing Machine?
I’m looking to buy a new sewing machine to replace an old Kenmore that I bought about 7 years ago at a yard sale. The old one worked really well for a few years, but now even after a professional tune up I cannot get the tension to work well. SO, I am choosing between a Husqvarna Viking Emerald 118 and a Kenmore 19110 as soon as I can. I have read that the Emerald is made in Taiwan & I don’t know if the Kenmore is made in Taiwan or China. Does anyone have some input on this decision? The Emerald will cost me about $170 more and they have very similar features. Both have a needle up/down and speed control. I am looking to do some basic home decor work and some quilting, but even on sale at $399, the Emerald is pushing my budget. Will the Kenmore be just as good? Thank you!

With the exception of Bernina, all sewing machines (Kenmore is made by Janome) are made in Taiwan. That does not make one brand any less than the other.
However, design technology does and that makes one brand better than the other. Just like a pre-packaged cake mix – anyone can bake the cake but the owner of the product is the one who makes the selection of ingredients and provides the instructions for “building” the cake.
Sometimes it is better to choose the dealer first, and then the brand and model he/she sells.
