Buy Used Sewing Machines
Anyone use a White brand sewing machine?
I want to buy a used sewing machine and am considering a White model 999 I found on ebay. Does anyone have experience with the White brand of sewing machines? I have never heard of them before I started researching. I think the model was made in the late 70s so it’s probably not one of the crappy all plastic ones.
Three White machines in my family: My grandmother’s 1948 straight stitcher, which I’m still using for quilting; my mother’s 1952 straight stitcher, which had a defective needlebar and wouldn’t hold time for more than about an hour of sewing, and a 1980-ish White multistitch that I made the mistake of buying and wore out within two years of not so heavy sewing.
On the other hand, I really like my 1995 Viking, which handles anything that’s thrown at it with great aplomb. And I’ve sewn miles in the last 10 years.
