Should I go to a dealer for the brother sewing machine (just sewing) or to walmart?
Should I go to a dealer for the brother sewing machine (just sewing) or to walmart? I have been debating whether or not going to the dealer for the warranty, however its just a one year warranty with a 25 year warranty from the company itself for a Brother innov-is 40 machine. Walmart sells different versions with many more stitches and also offers the 25 year warranty from the company but does not offer the one year warranty from the dealer. However the machines offered are more of a bang for your buck.
Where should I go?
I just bought a sewing machine from a discount chain, and while is does not have all the fancy features of the other machines that I paid thousands of dollars for, it sews great.
Look at the warranty and you will see there is a breakdown – first 90 days: free adjustment.
Remaining time is broken down into increments and what is covered and what is not.
The machine from the dealer – he won’t take it back, but will send it to the factory for repair if there is something wrong with it.
Walmart does take returns, but you need to check their terms.
Dealers can provide lessons.
That one year the dealer is offering is most likely not a warranty but a service contract for cleaning and adjusting and will not be an extension of the manufacturer’s warranty.
Ask him what he normally charges for routine cleaning and service.
All those extra stitches – you most likely will only use 3 or 4 of them.
