Brother Sewing Machine Embroidery?
I got a Brother sewing machine from my grandma. I embroidered my nephew’s name on a blanket and it came out perfect. When I try to embroider my niece’s name on a blanket, the thread keeps balling up under the fabric. Then, the machine stops and it is a huge mess.
I asked my grandma, but she doesn’t remember everything dealing with the machine.

Re-thread the machine with the presser foot up. Place the bobbin in so the bobbin thread feeds counter clockwise from the spool.
You also need to clean the bobbin area as it may now have thread snips that are causing the problem – computerized machines are sensitive to the tinniest bit in the wrong place.
