Question about sewing patches?
on boy scouts shirts? My youngest son needs his Bobcat badge sewn on and I have tried but it comes out crooked. I have no clue how to use the sewing machine since it was my grandmothers and is from the 30′s. I tried sewing it on but I can get it on straight. What can I do to get it on right, other than having someone else sew it on. He needs it on for tomorrow night’s blue/gold banquet.

I am a guy who tries to use his wife’s sewing machine to do exactly this.
When I sew my son’s and my uniform, I do something silly, but it absolutely works and has worked for 5 years now.
I use clear tape to tape the badge on. As I sew it, I do the longest edge first, and then I only end up sewing through one side of the tape. I keep the shirt and badge taught as I go through the rest of it and pull the tape off the other sides. When I’m done, I just pull the tape across the one stitch from each side.
UNFORTUNATELY, I got a reputation for sewing the most perfect patches, so I ended up having to sew all six boys’ uniforms. It has been crazy for 5 years now!
